Representatives of the Church of St Philip, Weston Mill and St Michael and All Angels Cornwood presented the organ for dedication and blessing. The gift of the people of St Philips, Weston Mill.

Excerpt from the service:

My brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, God has guided the hearts of the people of St Philips, Weston Mill, to give this pipe organ as an aid to the worship of Him in this holy place. It is right that we should now dedicate it to God and set it apart to the holy use for which it was designed.

For the beauty of creation, for the richness of life in countless forms, for all that sustains our lives.
We praise you, O God.

Because you have made us in your own image and called us to share in the work of creating, bringing the gift of reason, skill and talent to the service of others.
We praise you, O God.

For this pipe organ that will sound forth in beauty and glory, humbling the heart before the eternal mysteries and lifting the soul to abiding joy.
We praise you, O God.

For inspiring people to offer praise in music and song and to go forth from this place with high resolve to do God's will.
We praise you, O God.

For those who have given of their time and talent and those who have given of their means so that our worship may be a more perfect offering for your glory.
We praise you, O God.

And as we dedicate this pipe organ, that it may kindle the flame of devotion, comfort the sorrowful, cheer the faint-hearted, bring peace into our hearts, and lead all who hear it in the way of eternal life.
We praise you, O God.

Let us pray
O Lord, before whose throne trumpets sound, and St Michael and all the Angels and Saints sing: we thank you that you have so made us that by music we can raise our hearts to you. Accept this pipe organ which we dedicate to you, that with the voice of music we may proclaim your praise.

Grant that your people and all who shall enjoy the benefit of this instrument may serve you with gladness and show forth your praise in triumphant songs. Let your glory fill this place, and your spirit so dwell in the hearts of your people, that they shall sing your praise in spirit and truth, joining the heavenly chorus who sing the eternal song of triumph.

And now, bless this organ in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit that it may be set apart and consecrated for your praise: these things we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, to whom with the Father and the Holy Spirit praise is given for ever and ever. Amen
