Fair in the Square 2012

The Fair in the Square 2012 was held on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May. Everyone involved in organising the Fair this year must have been praying hard when they saw the weather forecast for the day. This joint effort paid off and apart from a chilly wind we had reasonable weather.

As always everyone enjoyed the Maypole Dancing provided by the village school, our thanks go to Karen Batten and all the children concerned for their hard work. The Laira Youth Band was as good as ever and gave two performances. Sparkwell Zumba Dancers appeared for the first time and gathered a few new recruits for their weekly class. The Crooked Tempo Drummers, from Ermington, provided the loudest contribution, they certainly got the party going. Apart from two performances they also held a workshop to show anyone interested how to drum. As always, Cosmo the Clown was on good form entertaining the children with his magic.

Mrs S Harris from Yealmpton won the £25 Programme Raffle and Pat West's watercolour was won by the Rev John Perry, retired vicar of Cornwood.

Our thanks to everyone who supported the event and made it such a success. We made a profit of about £2,800. Please see below photos from the day.
