Cornwood Challenge 2023

The 2023 Sibelco Cornwood Challenge and Fun Run, held on Saturday 22nd July 2023, will go down in the record books as the wettest but also one of the best. Thanks must go to everybody who helped make it a success despite the heavy rain, such as Marshals, Car Park Stewards, Entry Tent Admin etc. etc., and of course the runners in both races, who came from far and wide to take part. Congratulations to Thomas Wraight and Charlotte Walker, winners of the respective Mens and Ladies categories of the 10K, who went home with the superb traditional travel clocks supplied by our friends at Shadwell Stud. In the Fun Run Maddy Jones was first over the line again, following up her success in 2022, and is certainly one to watch out for when she beomes old enough to compete in the 10K. A few years further away from competing in the longer race is 8-year-old Jack Penney, who sprinted across the finishing line to take home the boys' cup.

With entries coming back up towards pre-Covid levels, we look forward to a hopefully drier 10K and Fun Run in 2024, but should the weather not be kind again we know that the great community spirit of the people of Cornwood and Lutton will come to the fore. Thanks again to everybody.
